October 2007: Day of the Dead
27 10 2007Tina’s theme-

Day of the Dead is a time to honor family members and loved ones that have passed on and also to acknowledge death as part of the natural cycle of life. The festivities and preparations usually begin in mid-October and continue through the first week of November, most notably on November 1rst and 2nd. If you are not familiar with this tradition, this is a good website to read:
http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/muertos.html
“This holiday is not solemn, not morbid, but rather, though dedicated to remembrance, it is a period full of life, color, play, and festival.”

With this idea in mind, create a visual piece honoring something or someone that has passed away. You can use traditional imagery if you’d like or you can combine it with your own style. You can get as conceptual as you would like. You can stick to the postcard format or venture out. As long as you can get a picture of it and mail it to your partner, anything goes. And remember, with Day of the Dead, more is more, so don’t hold back on the glitter.
